The Human Resource Directorate of the Forestry Commission (FC) has hosted an exit meeting with staff of the Internal Audit Unit to formally bid farewell to Rev. Dr. Carl Mensah Ahadzi, outgoing Director of Internal Audit, ahead of his transition to the position of Director of Finance.
The meeting, which brought together staff of the Internal Audit Unit from various zones across the country both physically and virtually, provided an opportunity for colleagues to reflect on Rev. Dr. Ahadzi’s tenure, celebrate his contributions and wish him well in his new role.
Delivering the welcome address, the Acting Human Resource Director, Dr. Abdul-Nasi Abubakar, described the meeting as an important administrative function that formed part of the transition process. “Like sands passing through an hourglass, so are the days of our career,” he remarked, underscoring the inevitability of career transitions and the importance of preparing for them.
Dr. Abubakar highlighted Rev. Dr. Ahadzi’s extensive and diverse academic and professional background, describing him as an epitome of preparedness. He urged staff to deliberately position themselves for career progression by acquiring the requisite knowledge, skills and professional experience necessary to take advantage of opportunities within the Commission.
In his statement, Rev. Dr. Carl Mensah Ahadzi described the moment as bitter-sweet. He reflected on his time with the Internal Audit Team, expressing gratitude for the experiences, relationships and achievements gained during his tenure.
A major theme of his address was the importance of professional commitment, teamwork and excellence. Rev. Dr. Ahadzi expressed pride in the achievements of the Team and encouraged staff to remain dedicated to their responsibilities while maintaining high professional standards in the discharge of their duties. He also expressed appreciation to colleagues across the Unit for their support and collaboration over the years, as well as for the relationships and memories built during his time with them.
While acknowledging that his transition to the Finance Directorate would bring new responsibilities and challenges, Rev. Dr. Ahadzi expressed confidence in the Internal Audit team’s ability to sustain the progress made and continue delivering on its mandate.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for staff to share congratulatory and appreciative messages with the outgoing Director. In an atmosphere marked by reflection and emotion, staff took turns to acknowledge his leadership and contribution to the Directorate and to wish him success in his new role. Staff also used the occasion to highlight some of the logistical and operational challenges confronting the Unit, such as vehicles among others, with the hope that these would receive the necessary attention to enhance the effective discharge of its mandate.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Abubakar urged staff to remain focused on their individual career paths and to recognise that professional growth is largely influenced by individual effort, preparedness and commitment.
